||Waiting For Some Good News
As often as we pick up our phone and check email, twitter and Facebook feeds, we are always looking for good news. It may be the anticipated phone call from the doctor's office to hear the test results, or it could be a text from a friend that asked for your prayers for a specific situation in their life. Whatever the method that we receive the news, we are always hoping to hear good news. Nobody wakes up in the morning and checks the weather map hoping it will be a dreary day (unless it provides you an excuse to put off the yard work). We don't look forward to bad news, but we are always hopeful for good news...in every situation.
Life happens and we are well accustomed to disappointment and the unexpected changing of plans. But when things work out as they are supposed to or when they work out better than expected, even then we sometimes feel the rug will be pulled out from underneath us and we wonder how long we will enjoy the victory before something bad happens.
While some people are more inclined to live like an Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, always pessimistic, always waiting for something bad to happen; they are the polar opposite of Tigger who is enthusiastically optimistic. Regardless if you are looking for the worse in a good situation or looking for the best in a bad situation, or if you are somewhere in between, the good news is that we can always live in victory. Rather than be like that employee who only lives for the weekend, realize that every day can be lived with the anticipation of something great happening, for indeed something great is happening.
You have been given victory...that's V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! Victory over troubles, victory over sin and death, victory over addictions, victory over dark and difficult days. 1 Corinthians 15:57-58, "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
Live today knowing that you have already won! When bad news comes your way, don't let it rob you of your joy, don't let obstacles keep you down, don't let detours take you away from the wonderful blessings and promises of God! This is your day! To God be the glory great things He hath done!
