Why We Have A Children's Ministry
Kids ministry is a big deal at our church!  One look at our church budget and anyone can tell that we are investing in our children's future.  Not only can children's ministry be expensive, it requires a lot of work.  As I write this, we are beginning our VBS in just a few hours and we are looking forward to the droves of kids that will walk through our doors.  Hours have been invested by many volunteers long before our VBS even kicks off tonight!  It is going to be an epic week!

Why do we work so hard to minister to those who only make our buildings messy; those who may be loud and annoying; those who may disrespect authority and give some of us a hard time?  The answer is simple: because Jesus loves them!  Even in Mark 10 when the children were making their way to Jesus in the crowd, the disciples rebuked them.  I can picture the disciples doing their best to make sure the kids were seen and not heard.  But in verse 14, the Bible tells us that when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased and said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God."

We invest in our children not only because we love them, but we also know that it is our responsibility to train the next generation.  If the Lord should tarry His coming, it is paramount that our children understand their role in proclaiming the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ! As I heard one preach put it, "It is far better to reach children than to mend men."  That reminds me of what the late D.L. Moody once said about a recent preaching opportunity when he said, "There were 2 1/2 people that came to know the Lord."  A listener replied, "You mean, two adults and one child?"  "No," Moody replied, "Two children and one adult."  There is a lot of depth to that statement.

If you are in the area, we would love to invite you to bring your children to our VBS.  We have an amazing crew and your kids will have a blast!  If you are not in the area, I ask for your prayers as we begin this amazing week.  We are already looking forward to all that God will accomplish in the lives of our young people!
